The Weeknd, a Canadian musician, has been named the most famous artist in the world by Guinness World Records.
After analyzing the Spotify data of some of the music industry’s biggest names, the group bestowed the honor on the singer-songwriter on Monday.
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, is the first and, for the time being, only performer in Spotify history to have 100 million monthly listeners. By a wide margin, The Weeknd took the top position.
According to the Guinness World Records, the “Starboy” singer has gained an additional 111.4 million streaming followers since breaking the mark.
Miley Cyrus is the next performer on the list, with a monthly audience of 82.4 million. Shakira (81.6 million), Ariana Grande (80.6 million), Taylor Swift (80. 2 million), Rihanna (78.5 million), and Ed Sheeran lag The Weeknd. (77.5 million).
