A source close to the investigation has confirmed that French prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation into the alleged rape by Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi.
A 24-year-old woman has accused the Paris Saint-Germain full-back of raping her on February 25 at his home in the French capital.
According to the source, the woman reported the incident to the police on Sunday but did not press charges. The public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, in Paris’ western suburbs, declined to comment but confirmed an investigation had begun.
Hakimi, born in Spain, was an essential player as Morocco made history by reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, becoming the first African Nation to do so.
