Neymar is set to miss the rest of the season after being ruled out for up to four months due to an injury by PSG.
During the February match between PSG and Lille, the Brazillian forward was carried out on a stretcher due to an ankle injury.
Since then, he hasn’t played, and he will now likely have season-ending surgery in Doha.
Neymar has experienced multiple instances of right ankle instability recently, according to a PSG statement.
“Following his last sprain contracted on February 20, the medical staff of Paris Saint-Germain recommended a ligament repair operation, in order to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All of the experts consulted confirmed this need.
“This surgery will be performed in the coming days at ASPETAR Hospital in Doha.
“A delay of three to four months is expected before his return to collective training.”
The second leg of PSG’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich will take place on Wednesday.
The Ligue 1 season ends on June 4, while the Champions League final is on June 10.
