Erling Haaland created history when he scored an incredible five goals to propel Manchester City past RB Leipzig and advance to the Champions League quarterfinals.
The Norwegian superstar is currently the youngest and quickest player to score 30 goals in the top club tournament in Europe.
Haaland’s outstanding performance also saw him surpass Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano as the youngest player to score five goals in a single Champions League match.
With this victory, Haaland has now scored 39 goals across all competitions this season, becoming the first City player to do so in a single season. He has also scored three more hat-tricks this season than any other player in the top five European leagues, with five total.
Ilkay Gundogan’s goal was a valiant effort, but it was nothing compared to Haaland’s historical performance. City’s only other such overwhelming performance in the competition came in a 7-0 win over Schalke in 2019.
