The Black Stars medical staff has cleared Charlton Athletic goalie Joseph Wollacott, 26, after the 26-year-old sustained a minor injury on Tuesday evening while working out with his teammates.
Wollacott was a member of Chris Hughton’s first Black Stars roster despite missing the team’s first World Cup assignment in November 2022 due to a finger injury.
When a mobile goalpost fell on the former Swindon Town goalkeeper during a team practice before their 2023 Afcon qualifying match against Angola, he was once again forced to watch from the stands.
“He was immediately assessed by the medical team and given emergency treatment. Wollacott was later reassessed in the medical room at the team hotel and currently, there are no major medical worries since the player is almost pain-free,” said the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday morning.
