Wan once again reprises Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which was written from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Jason Momoa returns to the sequel to reprise his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, the movie’s main character.
Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Amber Heard as Mera, and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin are among the returning actors who will be working with him.
Also, it will mark the debuts of several new cast members, including Chinese-Portuguese actress Jani Zhao (Jogo Duplo, The Sugar Captains), Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbaek Indya Moore (Pose, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions), and Vincent Regan (300, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance).
Wan and his regular partner Peter Safran are responsible for producing Aquaman 2. Wan had hinted that the sequel would include both horror themes and a more serious and current plot.
Aquaman, which is based on the DC character created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger in 1941, has become one of Warner Bros.’s highest-grossing DC movies with over $1 billion in worldwide box office receipts. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, released in 2016, marked the character’s first live-action movie appearance. The superhero role was later played by the character in Justice League.
