With the new version, WhatsApp will provide users greater privacy options by allowing them to “lock chats,” according to the WABetainfo. This is an effort to improve the user experience.
The new “lock chats” function is currently being worked on and will be made available by the Meta-owned messaging service once it is complete, according to the WhatsApp news tracker. It will be available to the beta testers first in the next upgrade of the app’s version.
Users will be able to hide chats and keep them secret thanks to the feature. Users will be able to lock particular chats using their fingerprint or passcode thanks to this update. The users would benefit from an additional degree of security and be able to keep their private discussions hidden from inquisitive eyes.
“After adding a chat to the list of your locked chats, it will be only available within this screen and, once a chat is locked, it can only be accessed using the user’s fingerprint or passcode, making it nearly impossible for anyone else to open the chat,” said the app-tracking website.
If someone tries to open a locked conversation but is unable to authenticate themselves with a fingerprint or passcode, they will need to clear the chat to be able to open it.
With this function, media files like images and videos shared in a protected conversation won’t be immediately stored in the phone’s gallery, preventing others from reading and looking at your communications.
