Police have verified that a third person has passed away as a result of the crush that occurred during rap artist GloRilla’s concert in New York on Sunday.
Aisha Stephens, 35, of Syracuse, had been hospitalized ever since the performance when the audience panicked and ran for the doors as soon as the music stopped.
Authorities believe that erroneous worries of gunshots may have been the cause of the disturbance at Rochester’s Main Street Armory.
Since then, the venue’s permit has been canceled.
The decision was taken as a result of the owner’s absence from a Wednesday meeting with Rochester’s police chief and municipal attorney.
“It is one step we can immediately take to ensure that the events of Sunday night are not repeated,” said police chief David Smith.
“The bottom line is, lives were lost, and we need to take steps to make sure that no lives are lost in the future if this was indeed something that was preventable.”
Officers are also investigating whether the Armory’s seating capacity was surpassed by the throng and whether the appropriate safety precautions were followed.

GloRilla didn’t find out about the incident until she had already left the event; her breakthrough song F.N.F. (Let’s Go) was nominated for best rap performance at the Grammy Awards last month.
“I am saddened and heartbroken at the tragic deaths that occurred after Sunday’s event,” she subsequently tweeted.
“My fans mean the world to me 😢. Praying for their families & for a speedy recovery of everyone affected.”
