Regina Daniels, a Nollywood actress, has criticized using young girls as labor in the country’s film industry.
She said in a video posted on Instagram that minors are unsafe working in the sector.
Regina Daniels said that she had come across a 14-year-old cosmetics artist who was traveling from set to set unsupervised.
She described the young woman as wearing “a short skirt, crop top,” and she surprised everyone by working as a make-up artist on the movie set under another young man without getting paid.
“Her parents are far away in Port Harcourt and she came to Lagos last year. She sleeps in different hotel rooms with whoever agrees to accommodate her every night and is not willing to go back to her parents.”
“This girl told me that she is here to learn but trust me, I know the industry, the industry is a very dangerous place for young girls,” the actress added.
To help the young woman pursue her education, Regina Daniels claimed to have taken the girl under her wing and sent her to boarding school.
The actress, who began her profession at a young age, stated that many of these young ladies are unfortunate not to have their mothers shield them from unwanted attention.

Regina Daniels claimed that the little girl brought up the names of several famous people she had collaborated with on set, which made her wonder why her coworkers did not raise the issue or stage an intervention.
She asked the other performers to speak out against the use of kids on set and not turn a blind eye.
The actress continued by pledging to battle any film producer who chooses to cast young children in their films.
