A mural honoring late Ghanaian international Christian Atsu is located at Tema’s Awudu Issaka Park.
The 31-year-old former Black Stars winger was pronounced dead last Saturday after becoming trapped under the debris as a result of an earthquake that occurred in Turkey just hours after the goal he had scored for Hatayspor.
While condolences continue to pour in for the former Chelsea and Porto player from all over the world and friends and family offer support to Atsu’s family at their Accra home, muralist Kingsley Kofi Deffor, who also happens to be a big Atsu fan, decided to honor the late footballer with a mural of him.

In an interview with 3Sports, he discussed his sources of inspiration and disclosed that Atsu was once his joy.
“It came into my mind that, if I get a wall, I will do a mural of him [Atsu] to honour him because he has made us happy before.
“There was a goal he scored that I was really really happy. He scored the goal from the touchline. He just kick the ball from that line straight into the pole [goalpost] made me happy and it was amazing I was like woo, this guy.”
