Only a day after Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced his intention to retire the microblogging site’s iconic bird logo, the company officially unveiled a new logo by projecting a giant X on its San Francisco headquarters.
On July 23, late at night, Twitter’s new logo illuminated the facade of the company’s San Francisco headquarters.
Soon after, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino revealed the new X logo to the world: “Lights. Camera. X!” she tweeted.

The move represents Musk’s efforts to rebrand the microblogging website following Meta’s launch of Threads, which gave Twitter a run for its money.
The logo replaced the well-known blue bird symbol with a white “X” on a black background.
Musk and Yaccarino used the X logo on their Twitter accounts, but the traditional Twitter blue bird symbol is still visible across the platform.
Taking to his official Twitter account, SpaceX founder Elon Musk stated that he wants to remove the Twitter logo and “eventually” the birds that have long been its trademark.
The billionaire teased the move with a shimmering image of an X yesterday afternoon, writing, “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.”
Later, he tweeted: “Soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”
Musk took over Twitter last year after paying the previous owner $44 billion and merging the company into X Corp.
However, users have increasingly expressed dissatisfaction with the platform and its policies since Musk’s takeover.
He fired several Twitter employees shortly after taking over. Soon after, he announced that anyone who paid a subscription fee could use Twitter’s verification checkmarks.
Previously, they were free and only available to users who the platform deemed “verified.”
Musk recently announced that he was limiting the number of tweets that users could see per day.
