WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform, will release yet another update that will allow millions of its users to distribute their messages to a larger but more targeted audience.
According to WABetaInfo, the latest feature will allow users in Singapore and Colombia to create broadcast channels to “share updates with their followers.”
“The WhatsApp for iOS 23.14.74 update was released on the App Store yesterday,” according to the website, as the feature is currently being rolled out to iOS users in the two aforementioned countries.
“While the official changelog doesn’t provide detailed information about the new features in this update, we discovered that WhatsApp is now introducing the ability to create channels in Singapore and Colombia,” it added.
As indicated in the existing official changelog, the update includes an improved sticker navigation feature and a large collection of avatars, according to WABetaInfo.
Users in Singapore and Colombia can also access the feature by going to the “Updates” tab and selecting “Create channel.” After creating a channel, a channel invite link can be shared with others.
It is important to note that the creation of a channel is currently limited to these two countries, and no information about its release elsewhere is currently available.
If users do not see this feature yet, it may become available in the coming weeks, according to the official changelog.
Users must keep their application updated and regularly download updates from the App Store or TestFlight app to ensure they receive the feature in the future.
The installation of this update will provide a better user experience as well as access to the channel creation feature.
