Ghanaian Afrobeat singer Camidoh has earned a nomination at this year’s BET Awards.
The ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker has been nominated for a Viewer’s Choice Award for Best New International Act.
For this award, he will compete against Werenoi from France, FLO from the United Kingdom, Libianca from Cameroon, Raye from the United Kingdom, Maureen from France, MC Ryan SP from Brazil, Paris Cooper from South Africa, and Asake from Nigeria.
Camidoh rose to international prominence in 2022 when he released a remix of ‘Sugarcane’ featuring Mayorkun and Darkoo.
He won Afrobeats Song of the Year and Best International Collaboration with the ‘Sugarcane’ remix at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards after topping various international music charts.
The Black Entertainment Television network established the BET Awards in 2001 to honor black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.
Kojo Antwi, D Black, Sarkodie, R2bees, Stonebwoy, Fuse ODG, MzVee, Kwesi Arthur, and Black Sherif are some Ghanaian artists who have been nominated for or won BET Awards in the past.
