Ghanaian artist and songstress Wendy Shay has voiced her displeasure with other musicians who are purportedly stealing her songs.
In a Twitter post, the Rufftown Records signee stated that she had encountered situations in which she had sent files of her songs to some artists to be featured, but they instead stole portions of her melodies for their songs.
“You send a song to a GH artiste for a feature. Next thing you know, your melodies are in their new song! This is the second time it’s happened to me… thieves! Ghanaian artists, wake up!” she wrote on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
It is uncertain who Wendy Shay is referring to in the post, but some have speculated that this could be one of the artiste’s customary pranks to garner media attention.
Others have begun to speculate on who she is likely to be referring to in her remark.
Meanwhile, the subject of music theft has become a hot topic in the entertainment sector.
Many musicians have either called out others who have stolen their tunes or have been prosecuted for infringing on others’ copyright.
