On Monday morning, the Nigerian Jollof Queen Hilda Baci broke the record for the longest cook-a-thon (cooking marathon).
Lata Tondon, a chef in India previously held the record with 87 hours and 45 minutes; the Nigerian cook broke it at 7:46 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, with 87 hours and 46 minutes.
Hilda has spent at least 87 hours exhibiting her culinary skills utilizing a variety of local and international recipes to place Nigeria on the map of the world’s cuisine. She plans to cook for 93 hours straight.
The 27-year-old has prepared around 110 dinners using delicacies from Nigerian cuisine over the past four days.
To attain her record-breaking target of 96 hours, Hilda has been cooking constantly since 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 11. She intends to continue cooking until 4 p.m. on Monday.
Baci also took an hour off every 12 hours of cooking during the endeavor.
In addition to celebrity appearances by Tiwa Savage, Banky, and Adesua Wellington, Teni the entertainer, Spyro, and Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu, the four-day culinary marathon included networking opportunities, contests, and marketing activations.
The actress and TV producer is making an attempt with the Cook-a-thon after showcasing her culinary skills on several television cook shows and winning the Jollof Faceoff Competition in 2021 while representing Nigeria.
