A Harry Potter television series is formally under development by Warner Bros. Discovery for their upcoming streaming platform, Max. Our knowledge of the series’ formal arrival confirms recent rumors that it was in development.
According to a press statement, it will be a “decade-long series produced with the same epic craft, love, and care that this global franchise is known for.” The series’ renowned characters will be played by a fresh ensemble, and Warner Bros. Discovery guarantees that “each season will be authentic to the original books.” Even with this new show in the works, the original flicks will remain “available to watch globally.”
J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer on the project. The author has been widely chastised for making disparaging remarks about the transgender community, yet the series remains enormously popular; Hogwarts Legacy, a recently released computer game set in the Wizarding World, sold 12 million copies in its first two weeks.
